The earliest lessons we learn are often the ones that we hold to be the most important, even when we see in later years that those early lessons were wrong (or at least misinterpreted).1 Those who suffer from childhood trauma often don’t realize all the ways they sabotage their own happiness later in life. It is my hope that someone reading this book recognizes some of his or her own pain in the stories. Acknowledging childhood trauma is the first step in better dealing with it. Of course, it is far from the final step and I encourage anyone who finds something familiar in these pages to seek counseling and not be too proud to accept help. Ira L. Lake’s book titled Messed Up and Don’t Even Know It: The Journey from Childhood Trauma to Healing, is now available on Amazon. Click HERE to purchase it!
